MDPL New Shooters Qualification Course

The course normally takes a full day with a break for lunch.
This course, an IPSC black badge or active Military/LEO credentials are a requirement for participating in MDPL matches.
Course participants must be CSSA members. The course is $50 + CSSA membership ($45) for a total of $95.
BEFORE THE COURSE YOU SHOULD
- Be able to hit a 8.5″X 11″ paper at 20m at your own time, with your pistol, 9/10 times
- Know how your pistol works and name its parts; slide lock, mag release, safety, etc.
- Be able to clean your pistol, including minor disassembly if required
Required Equipment:
- ‘Stock’ handgun and 2 magazines ( 3 speed loaders or magazines recommended)
- Pistol belt – A sturdy belt made to carry a handgun. 1.5″ recommended.
- Holster (no shoulder rigs, cross draw, appendix or speed/race type holsters)
- Belt ammo carriers also recommended (i.e. mag pouches)
- 200 rounds of ammo (minimum)
- Concealment garment (vest, jacket etc…)
- Eye & ear protection
The course will cover:
- IDPA rules, and range commands
- Range safety
- Drawing from a holster, drawing from concealment
- Target engagement
- Shooting from cover, shooting on the move
- Reloads (slide lock, reload with retention)
